Quetzal Arévalo is a curator based in Los Angeles, CA. They are currently the Getty Marrow Emerging Professionals Curatorial Assistant at ONE Archives at the USC Libraries. Arévalo’s research investigates the intersections of queer art and subculture within the late 20th century. Their debut exhibition NEED ME, or, (de)mystifying the myth of the modern primitive, opening at ONE on February 25, 2026, explores the history and visual culture of the modern body piercing movement. Their forthcoming catalog under the same name will be published by ONE Archives in spring of 2026. At ONE, they co-curated nine exhibitions, including the Pacific Standard Time exhibition Sci-fi, Magick, Queer L.A.: Sexual Science and the Imagi-Nation. Arévalo’s research and writing has been supported by the Getty Foundation, and their curatorial projects have been additionally supported by University of Southern California Visions & Voices and the National Endowment for the Arts.

They hold a BA in History of Art from University of California, Berkeley, with highest university honors.
